Let's Get Together...
In the last edition, we talked about how important it is to have a solid foundation when working in the field using sandtray therapy...
Then we touched on finding your tribe, and the necessity of joining a community of like-minded individuals to support you in your sandtray journey.
But what IS a community, and why is it so important?!
Well, I don't know about you, but I feel like being a therapist can be extremely isolating...
Maybe you work in a busy agency with a ton of co-worker friends, but you still spend ALL DAY working tirelessly to help clients heal trauma, meet emotional needs, develop healthy coping skills, protect and advocate for safety, security, and overall well-being... and don't even get me started on what it's like if you're in private practice and doing all of that 100% alone!

Veering from the norm a bit, we decided to explore a powerful technique that you guys can use with your clients to identify their support systems and networks, called a community or systems tray (much like an ecomap, for all you social workers out there)!
This particular tray was built to represent the various aspects of connection and systems that exist within our very own private practice setting.
This type of tray could be utilized to aid clients in exploring family and social dynamics, dynamics within the workplace, sources of stress or pressure, areas of strength, and can even help clients who feel isolated by helping them identify and reinforce the various systems and communities they are a part of, in effort to explore and establish outlets for support.
