Love Is In The Air
Self-Care...but like...for real...
February seems to be the time year that we focus on love and unity...we have Valentines Day (of course), Black History Month, National Play Therapy Week, and a host of other random national holidays and observances such as "national make a friend day" and "do a grouch a favor day" (no joke, its February 16th). But we often forget about ourselves, and the importance of self-love and self-care.
I don't know about you guys, but this time of year can be super stressful, and if not properly cared for, can leave you feeling exhausted and burned out.
One of the best methods I've found to fight burnout is to get really good professional trainings...to refill my cup, revitalize my practice, and help me remember why I love to do the work that we do.
The is hosting the Second Annual Sandtray Therapy Summit in Orlando, FL on April 4-5, 2020. You can earn up to 12 CEs, but more than that, you get to network and learn within the safety of a community that promotes inclusion, diversity, and a genuine love of all-things-sandtray!
This organization is member-led, so every breakout and presenter is a practitioner, just like you...And not not to mention, it's hosted in DISNEY SPRINGS; so what better self-care than to take a mini-vacay while you soak up knowledge and get those coveted CEs!
If you want to learn more, check out the Summit website for all the latest updates, vendor information, and presenters/topics.
If you're already attending, I can't wait to see you there! Send us a shout-out in the and let us know WHY you chose to attend Summit, or what sandtray therapy means to you, and you could win some awesome SWAG!
Featured Miniatures
This month's minis are inspired by the ideas of self-care, nurturing, love, personal growth...and of course...ORLANDO!
Fantasy Trio -
The first set of miniatures include a castle (for Disney, duh), a stone that says "beach", and a rainbow....Disney is known as "the happiest place on earth", and feelings of happiness, magic, relaxation, and fun resonate when we think about traveling to Disney Springs for the 2nd annual Sandtray Therapy Summit!
If taken out of context of the Summit, these miniatures could be utilized by clients to represent dreams/goals, happy memories, self-expression, to communicate unmet needs, or connect with their inner-child.
Goddess and Mother Statues -
These miniatures could be utilize to represent sacred knowledge or wisdom, providing or receiving nurturing, or empowerment.
Owl, Open Hands, and Stone Path -
We selected this grouping of miniatures to represent knowledge, being open to risks and new avenues of learning, and a path for personal growth.
Meditative Figure and Hearts -
This handmade figure gets used a TON in the tray to represent self-love. The hearts, one full and one broken, could be utilized in a number of ways to explore the expression of love (or love lost) to self and others.
Cash Rules Everything Around Me...
Excuse the Wu-Tang reference...but as an 80s baby, I had to... (sorry, not sorry).
It seems like this time of year, everyone (ourselves and clients included) are consumed by money woes. Perhaps we overextended our Christmas budget, our deductibles kicked back in, and we gotta pay taxes...Some of us are figuring out how to scrape together the cash to get to...all while maintaining the day-to-day expenses of basic survival. All of these concerns can lead to insurmountable stress...
We have a (partially) handmade mini in our collection that gets used ALL THE TIME to explore and process financial issues, and it only takes two items and a couple of minutes of your time to create!
Simply coat one side of a dollar bill in a thin layer of Mod Podge and let dry, and repeat on the other side. This gives the dollar a "laminated" feel, but is more flexible and will remain protected for years of use in your sandtray.

So many awesome things are happening in the Sandtray Suite... we know that enrollment is closed, but still wanted to let you in on what's goin' on inside and what our #Roomies are so excited about! Last month, we explored working with Gifted individuals using sandtray therapy, and provided some awesome resources to help support your gifted and twice-exceptional clients. This month is allll about working with adolescents and teens, using the THREE M's and the ARC model to build rapport and credibility with some of our most hard-to-reach kiddos. Don't get me wrong, the trainings, extra resources, printables, practice tips, and directives are amazing...but my FAVORITE thing about being a #Roomie is....THE BOXES! of the latest Mini-Box that went out to all of the Plus Members! |
