Back to the Basics – Week 2
What\'s In Your Tray?! Everything you need to know about filling your sand trays...
I get asked ALL the time about what kinds of sand I prefer to use in my sandtray practice. I\’m here to offer you some of the tips and tricks I\’ve learned along the way!
First of all, there are TONS of options when picking out what sand to fill your tray with and all of them are FINE!
If you\’re on a budget, just starting out, or not super sure where this journey\’s going to take you, you can use basic Playground Sand that can be purchased from just about any hardware store. It\’s cost effective and easy to pitch when it gets yucky (tiny hands and germs, anyone?!), but it is a bit more dusty than other, more expensive sands.
After using this sand for quite awhile, I decided to make the investment in better quality sand, since I was working with clients using sandtray therapy every day.
So throughout the years, I have used just about every type of sand you can imagine. To make it easy, I have compiled my TOP 3 favorite, absolutely-have-to-have, can\’t-live-without sands that my clients have gravitated to throughout the years.
Watch the video below to learn ALL about these three amazing types of sand, and how these can be used with different client populations.
Now that you\’ve watched the video, tell us what you think!
What types of sand have you had success with or absolutely can\’t live without?
Again, whatever type of sand you choose, the brain will go where it needs to go as long as you\’re there holding space.
