Therapy technique: A video to help with remembering what is good in the world
We often get bombarded with the under-belly of life with our job. Not to mention the everyday of our general life that can be soul-shearing.
If we feel this way, it\’s safe to say that our clients do as well.
When I assign the 5 things of gratitude task (like Oprah suggests) as a homework task, my clients off struggle, especially the ones suffering from depression.
I get it. It makes sense that it seems impossible to see the good when you feel like you are in a hole and have no idea how things will ever be better.
I suggest showing this video or assigning it as a homework task to your clients as a way to provide an example of how to really see the good in our everyday life. Not to ignore the real pain that is present- but to also appreciate the little things, like a car that starts or hot water in the morning.
I\’ll be bookmarking this video myself to watch on days when it feels like I\’m running in circles and wonder why I chose this life.
I\’m here for a purpose. It\’s all connected. Our clients do have hope. It\’s our job to help them see that.
This video may provide a little peek of light in the darkness for ourselves as well as our clients.
Here\’s your challenge. Leave a one word comment describing your feelings after watching this video. I dare you.

One word…ungrateful…to be honest. I really needed this to refocus my thoughts today. Ok…I’ll change my word…refocused. Thanks!

Nicole,
We all have those days but the good news is – it is only takes a minute to refocus and refresh. Here’s to a great weekend! 🙂
